Please come and join in the fun.  Registration  09:30, Start  10:00. Adults  £2.00,  Children  £1.00.  Sponsored by HARVEY, Mapmakers of Doune and organised by Doune and Deanston Sports Club.

 

 

 

Doune Gala Day takes place on Saturday 14th June, 12.30pm – 4.30pm and the theme is “LEGENDS OF SUPERHEROES” gathering from 12.30pm in Graham Street where the Fancy Dress entrants will be judged. The parade from The Cross to Moray Park will start at 1pm, led by The Red Lion Pipers and drummers.

New Zumba Gold dance fitness classes, intended for older adults, will be taking place between 9:30-10:15am at Doune Rural Hall from Tuesday August 20th onwards. For further information please contact Janice Klemer at  01786 860251.

 

The Doune Gala is the village’s summer showcase event which brings together residents and visitors of all ages and from all walks of life.It’s a great day with loads to see and do.



DOUNE GALA WEEKEND 2013

Doune Gala Day takes place on Saturday 15th June, 12.30pm – 4.30pm and the theme is “IF YOU GO DOUNE TO THE WOODS TODAY…”  gathering from 12.30pm at The Cross when the Fancy Dress entrants will be judged. The parade from The Cross to Moray Park will start at 1pm, led by The Red Lion Pipers and drum.

The Gala Day will be then be officially opened, with crowning of the Gala Queen followed by announcement of the Fancy Dress winners and winner of the best window display. Our Guest of Honour this year is Sue Harvey from Harvey Maps.

After the official business, everyone can enjoy the rest of the afternoon with a plethora of activities and events:

  • Stalls run by local groups and businesses
  • Live music from Pipes and Drums, “The Bertie Bassetts” and local talent “No’ Half Bad”
  • Tea in the Tent hosted by Doune Brownies
  • Various attractions for the younger element: fun fair, ice cream, bouncy castles, and bungee pull
  • Petting zoo with wild creatures
  • Children’s Goody Bags
  • Grand Raffle and Silent Auction

 

Doune DuckDoune Gala Duck Race – Sunday 16th June

The ducks will make their way down the Ardoch Burn to The Pier, starting at 12pm. First, second and third prizes of £50/£30/£20 with lots of runners-up prizes and a booby prize for the last duck past the line! Great prizes, great fun – “ducks” for sale at the library or on Gala Day.

The whole event is organised by Doune Gala Committee. The main purpose of the Gala is to raise money to give our senior citizens a Christmas party, but it also costs a fair bit to run the event every year!

Gala Day provides the opportunity for many local groups and businesses to raise funds for their own specific causes whilst giving everyone in the village a fun day out! 26th Doune Gala FUN RUN – Sunday 16th June, 9:30am

With 6km and 2.5km options. Registration is at Moray Park, Doune at 9.30 am and the race starts at 10.00 am. It costs £2.00 for Adults; £1.00 for Children and we welcome runners and walkers of all ages!!

The Fun Run is organised by Doune and Deanston Sport and Leisure Club and has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Map Services Ltd in Main Street Doune.

Harveys Gala Fun Run  is 25 Years young!

It might have been the Queens Diamond Jubilee on June 5th however on Sunday 17th June 2012 we are celebrating our own Silver Jubilee, 25 years of the Harveys Gala Fun Run.

Santa Claus and mulled wine are just two of the highlights of Doune’s bustling Christmas Fair which starts the run in to the festive season with local stalls, music and much more.

 

Celebrating the filming of Monty Python’sHoly Grail at Doune Castle, a crazy crew of fanatic medieval knights and wenches descend on the village for zany fun and frollocks.

 

One of the best nights to be had in Doune with film stars, monsters, cartoon characters and world famous figures gracing the village to raise money for the local Fire and Rescue Service.

Doune Gala Day takes place on Saturday 16th June, 12.30pm – 4.30pm and the theme is “DOUNE THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD” starting 12.30pm at The Cross when the Fancy Dress entrants will be judged. The parade from The Cross to Moray Park will start at 12.45pm, led by Callander Brass.

The Gala Day will be officially opened at 1pm, with crowning of the Gala Queen followed by announcement of the Fancy Dress winners and winner of the best window display.  Our Guests of Honour this year are Mr and Mrs James Innes.

After the official business, everyone can enjoy the rest of the afternoon with a plethora of activities and events:
