A few years ago a lorry carring farmed salmon crashed into the back garden wall of a house on the A84 Stirling to Callander road at Doune. Luckily no one was injured. However the side of the van was ripped open and a number of whole salmon flowed out into their back garden. As the salmon were technically spoiled and could not be sold, the kind house owner called out for help to the local community to share in the feast of salmon. This was enthusiastically and gratefully received with some enterprising locals bringing wheel barrows to transport their share home. The community was well fed on fish for several months.
