This is a community based project.............

Doune and Deaston Youth Project (DDYP) aims to increase social engagement amongst young people by providing a community hub for children and young people locally. The project provides a safe and stimulating environment for local young people who are affected by issues relating to rural isolation and/or poverty and social exclusion. By supporting them to be involved in meaningful activities that result in positive destinations.

Divided by age, the DDYP currently serves two separate youth club nights which includes a junior’s (p7s-S2) and a Senior’s (S3’s to up to 18yrs old) night. The aim of the evening sessions are to provide a safe space where young people can come together, socialise and interact with one another. As well as general youth club activities our youth workers and volunteer staff also provide issue based workshops, sports and outdoor activities, creative arts programme, summer programme and a limited 1-2-1 programme to those requiring additional support.

More recently the DDYP has set up a new After school club for primary school age children which enables the organisation to provide local parents a much needed after school child care provision. The DDYP after school club is not only a self-sufficient programme but it also helps the organisation to raises vital funds as its profits are reinvested back in to the project. Furthermore, the after school club also provides volunteering opportunities for many older young people from the senior youth group as there is a great demand from these young people to build on their work experience, gain confidence and leadership skills whilst improving their CVs in order to increase their chances of gaining employment when leaving school.
